General Job Description
Our company is looking for an Office Assistant – someone to conduct the daily procedures necessary to keeping a well-run office. Generally, this person will answer phones, organize schedules and meetings, oversee office supplies inventories and stocks, handle copying and printing, and assist project manager.

Position Requirements:
Education/Experience:
• College Degree, preferably in communication studies or a humanities field
• Preferred (but not required): a minimum of one year experience in an administrative position
Oral/Written Communication
• Computer literacy: must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite; Graphics programs such as Pagemaker and HTML added plus
• Experience with a multi-line phone system
• Ability to speak clearly and choose appropriate words to convey information/message
• Ability to listen and understand long questions or complaints
• Ability to edit documents for inconsistencies and typos
• Ability to compose simple correspondences by applying good grammar, proper word usage, and correct spelling

Software Engineer
Established, innovative software and consulting company providing technology and associated services to human service initiatives, foundations and large non-governmental organizations seeks a junior developer to become an important part of the development team. The applicant should have a background of coding in Java, experience with web applications, standards, and underlying technologies, and good communication skills.

Application Development in Java
Proven track record in developing large scale, scalable database driven applications using Java programming language.
Proven experience with both aspects of Java development: (1) thick-client (Swing); and (2) web-based (JSP).
Proven experience with SQL and working with querying large data sets.
Web Application Development
Some experience with developing web applications that use CSS, JavaScript, XML and RSS.
Some experience with developing web application that use current web standards for AJAX functionality.
Database and Web Server Experience
Familiarity of the current web standards.
Familiarity with administering transactional database servers, preferably MySql.
Familiarity with administering Apache/Tomcat application servers.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for helping to maintain and improve existing software, as well as in the development of the next generation of the product. Job duties for this project include:
Core Responsibilities
• Understanding the code base of the company’s existing software.
• Working on programming tasks with senior developers in the existing development team.
• Working with Project Manager’s to deploy new versions of the company’s software.
Secondary Responsibilities
• Overseeing the work of outside contractors, and in house developers.
• Working with company’s support staff to assess the software maintenance requirements and coordinating software maintenance.
• Working with support staff to resolve issues in the software.
