I'm linking to this with reluctance. It's a NYT article calculating the "real" percentage of those unemployed in America. I will give you a hint, it is much higher than 10 percent.
You know this if you're out looking for work. You feel it.
But let me add a little spin to this. Of the masses looking for work right now:
How many of them are willing to work as hard as our group on their resumes?
How many of them are using their community resources like those offered by SBCC, the EDD, and on-line sources?
How many job hunters are working smart as those in our community are working?
Standing apart from this crowd of career seekers takes courage and grit. When I stand in my very privileged position before our class in room 15 at SBCC, I see a LOT of courage and grit. Even better, I see wonderful smiles and sweet optimism.
This is what I so treasure about our community.
Let's gather one more time in room 15 and then send each other off into the world with the proper respect, support, and gusto.
