Thank you. It looks like it will be an interesting class. Unfortunately I will have to be out of town for the first class meeting, but will be back for all the rest. Should I send someone to represent me so that you have the necessary count for the first class day?

Hi Don,
Do the local Unemployment and Workforce Investment Act folks know of this website as resource?
I don't remember seeing it on their informational lists...

Hi Don,
The status field is a great idea, did I miss that before or is it new?
I had an idea for the site- encouraging members to create a bio or a few sentences about what they are looking for, hope to accomplish or skills they bring. I think this could encourage some networking between site members with similar interests/needs.
Thoughts?
Regards,
Mike-

Don & Tanja,
Thanks for the information. It seemed the Tech Brew was AWOL this past year, its good to see it will be returning in December.
Don- I'll give your idea on topics some thought.

This village is lucky to have you, Mike. I'll start addressing more of these questions in the forums. I wonder if having an appearance forum would be a good idea? It seems so shallow that it matters. But it matters. Will you choose a topic that you think MOST needs to be addressed and I think I can set you up as the moderator of that topic. That'll give you a credit on your CV as a publisher. ;)

Hi Don,
I fully understand your reasons for moderation.
I was interested in current discussions on a variety of random topics like:
Interviewing- appearance; dressing to long younger, dying hair etc. While at the doctors office I glanced at an article in Money where a team of experts helped older job seekers prepare. There was mention of things like the color/darkness of a suit can help contrast gray hair.

- Tips on dealing with our ages while applying and interviewing.
- Networking sites, do they really work? Has anyone had practical success with one, and if so how?
- Are there any job clubs or groups in the area?
- I have a list of local companies I've gleaned from the paper, websites, CL, conversations etc. of companies that hire in the computer technology domain. Can we share that kind of information with other site members?
-Resumes, how to dumb them down or apply for lower level positions.
-Interviewing, especially geared for seasoned applicants
etc, etc.
Regards,
Mike-

Hi Don,
Great site with a great purpose.
I can't seem to create new topics in forum.
Do you prefer we start discussions in our blogs?

Hello Don,
I will most likely be signing up for the class (again!) as I still have not found work. Have had interviews, make it to the "last 2" but then nothing. I do have an interview 9/14 for a State of California job which I applied for in January!!!

I have mixed feelings--I want to take the class again because it is such a great class; but I also would like to be working and not need to take the class!

I will always check the website though as it is such a great "community". Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

Hi Don,
I just signed in (on?) to the NING network. It looks like an interesting group of individuals - some of whom I already know fairly well. I look forward to somehow cooperating with you on the Age of Work effort.

Hello Don,
We all enjoyed and benefited from The Age of Work class. I think you should follow this up with a resume workshop--a real workshop where participants are able to create a few resumes.
